Riser will break from post 9 in the Grade 3, $150,000 British Columbia Derby at Hastings Saturday. He will be ridden by Aaron Gryder for trainer Blaine Wright. The speedy son of Mizzen Mast is the one they have to run down in the 1 1/8 miles race that drew 10 horses.

The Derby is supported by five stakes including the $100,000 British Columbia Oaks. The Oaks features a matchup between local sensation, Daz Lin Dawn, and the Washington Oaks winner Little Dancer.
