Chicago Angel (2) will have her first start since November in a $16,000 claimer for non-winners of three in Friday's sixth race.
Despite the selling-class status of the runners, Chicago Angel will not be changing barns. The 6-year-old mare has been entered without a claiming price under a California Horse Racing Board rule that allows a horse to return from a layoff of at least six months at a claiming price equal to or greater than its last race.
Chicago Angel finished fifth in an $8,000 claimer at Del Mar on Nov. 18. She won a $16,000 claimer for non-winners of two at a mile at at Del Mar last July, but was winless in her final four starts of the year.
Trained by George Papaprodromou, Chicago Angel is a 15-1 shot on the morning-line for her comeback in a field of nine. Shakti (4) is the 5-2 favorite on the morning-line.
