Apprentice jockey Evin Roman has won three races at Del Mar on Thursday, his first career hat trick at the San Diego area track.

Roman, 20, is the leading rider at the meeting. Through Thursday's sixth race, Roman has 15 wins at the meeting, four more than Rafael Bejarano and five more than Flavien Prat.

This is a trend of success for Roman from recent months. He tied with Prat for the riding title at the Santa Anita spring-summer meeting and won the title at the Los Alamitos summer meeting in July, even though several prominent riders rode sparingly, if at all, during that two-week season.

They are all here for this season, though. 

Roman may not be done this afternoon. He has one more mount - Spend It (1) - in the eighth race.
