Del Mar: D'Amato, Roman seek hat tricks

Trainer Phil D'Amato and jockey Evin Roman combined to win their second races of Wednesday's nine-race program on Meet and Greet ($8) in the eighth race.

They can win a third race on the program, but not with each other, in the ninth race on Wednesday.

D'Amato saddles Formal Dude (2), who will be ridden by Joe Talamo. Roman rides Knight Disruptor (5), who is trained by Neil Drysdale.

Formal Dude was fifth in his debut on Sept. 30 after a slow start. Knight Disrputor was fifth and third in hsi first two starts. This will be his first start at a mile on turf.

With 16 minutes to post, Kazan (10) is the 9-5 favorite in the maiden race for 2-year-olds. Kazan was fifth in the Zuma Beach Stakes at a mile on turf at Santa Anita on Oct. 9. The legendary European jockey Frankie Dettori has the mount.
