Forever Unbridled, the champion older mare of 2017, is gearing up for a 6-year-old campaign in 2018, trainer Dallas Stewart said Monday.
Plans have been fluid for Forever Unbridled since she was withdrawn from consideration for the Pegasus World Cup, and after posting a timed workout Dec. 11 at Fair Grounds, Forever Unbridled has not worked since. But after meeting with owner Charles Fipke in Florida last weekend, where Seeking the Soul finished fifth in the Pegasus for Fipke and Stewart, and Forever Unbridled got an Eclipse Award, Stewart returned to Fair Grounds with the plan of readying his star mare for another season's racing.
"I’m pretty sure she’s racing," Stewart said. "That’s the plan right now."
Forever Unbridled is galloping daily but there are no immediate plans for her first start of 2018. Forever Unbridled only raced three times in 2017 and didn't make her first start of the year until the June 17 Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs.
"Don’t know where she'll run yet, but she looks great," said Stewart.
