Bigger Picture and Hogy, who invaded from South Florida to win a pair of turf stakes Sunday at Sam Houston in Texas, were traveling back home on Tuesday with plans for their next races to be determined, trainer Mike Maker said. The horses are returning to Gulfstream Park.
Bigger Picture won the Grade 3, $200,000 John B. Connally Turf Cup for the second year in a row Sunday in his first out since a start in the Breeders' Cup Turf. For his effort at Sam Houston, the horse earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 96.
"We'll look at every stakes we feel he fits and find the best spot," Maker said of plans going forward with Bigger Picture.
The horse won at a mile and a half in the Connally.
Hogy was a last-to-first winner of the $75,000 Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 97.
"We'll pick and choose our spots," Maker said race options with Hogy.
Maker said long term an objective for the horse is the Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint in September. Hogy won the race in 2017.
