Strange doings in Sunday's nightcap. First came the crazy late money on Rule Yourself, who was bet to 1-2 despite the fact he finished fifth of eight in his only previous start on dirt. Next came second choice Two Seventy One bolting on the final turn and being eased to the wire by jockey Luis Saez. And finally the victory by 12-1 Big Fridge, who had never previously raced on dirt although he did have an equipment change wearing blinkers on for the first time for trainer Rasharn Creque.
Big Fridge's win capped off a Rainbow 6 sequence that returned $1,445 for 6 of 6. There will be a carryover of more than $1 million heading into Monday's special 12 race holiday card.
