Speed was dominant on both surfaces, except for in the seveth, a second-level optional-claiming turf sprint. A wicked speed duel between the favored Commute, City Boy and Singandcryindubai set the table for longshot Sweet Romance, who was the first of two winners on the card for Chantal Sutherland.

Singandcryindubai ran bravely in defeat, finishing under just under five lengths back in fifth, as the other front-runners faded into oblivion. He was leading trainer Norm McKnight's lone starter today.

My Arch Enemy ($18.10) gamely off the favored newcomer Ickymasho to take the allowance prep for the G3 Trillium Stakes in gate-to-sire style under Gary Boulanger. There was a five and a half-length gap back to the accomplished comebacker Gamble's Ghost, who probably needed the race.
