Things to know, Thursday at Santa Anita …
Race 1 – Who is the GOAT? The goat is the new stall companion for Allie’s Love (7), a fidgety filly who calmed down after trainer Genaro Vallejo claimed her for $12.5k and found her a stall companion. Allie’s Love calmed down with her new friend; she romped for $16k claiming "first-time-goat." A sibling to multiple turf sprint stakes winner Richard’s Boy, Allie’s Love moves up Thursday to Cal-bred N1X turf sprint. If she runs to her pedigree and avoids a duel with stablemate Forthenineteen (6), Allie’s Love can upset at 6-1. Late-runner Cleverly Beverly (5) has a longshot look if the pace falls apart.
Race 3 – El Tovar (4) shortens to his preferred sprint distance in this $20k claiming turf sprint. The 8-5 favorite is the second most probable winner on the card.
Race 4 – Trainer Doug O’Neill is dominating 2yo races; winning five of the 10 this meet. O’Neill-trained debut runner-up Factor of Two (3) is favored in this five-furlong dash. The filly Factor of Two chased, Tijori, is favored Thursday at Belmont in the Astoria Stakes, race 6. Post time for the Astoria is 1:40 PT; post time for race 4 at Santa Anita is 2:08 PT.
Race 7 – How low will the odds be for Amada Rafaela (6)? She won her debut by more than eight lengths and earned the co-highest figure of the year by a 3yo dirt filly. The 97 Beyer will make Amada Rafaela odds-on in this N1X sprint. Her program price is 3-5; she could go shorter. Blinkers off, outside post, shocked if she gets beat.
First post Friday is 12:30.
