American Gal will likely scratch from Friday's Grade 3, $250,000 Bed o' Roses Invitational and run in Saturday's Grade 1, $750,000 Ogden Phipps, owner Kaleem Shah said Thursday afternoon.
Noting that the Phipps is a Grade 1, Shah said American Gal would "most probably" run Saturday though he said he would talk it over some more with trainer Simon Callaghan Thursday night.
The Phipps is run at 1 1-16-miles a distance at which American Gal has yet to be successful. However, the race is run around one turn.
If American Gal does indeed run in the Phipps, the Bed o' Roses is expected to be a four-horse field, with the potential to go down to three.
Ivy Bell, Chalon and Union Strike are all expected to scratch leaving Divine Miss grey, Lewis ay and Carienn in the field. Highway Star is also entered in both the Bed o' Roses and Phipps.
