Popular Kid, the runner-up in Friday's fifth race, was claimed in a 20-way shake by trainer Doug O'Neill for $16,000.
Popular Kid, the 9-5 favorite, was beaten 1 1-4 lengths by Jay Makes Us Laugh ($11) in an allowance race with a $16,000 claiming option for California-breds at a mile.
A 4-year-old gelding, Popular Kid has won 3 of 31 starts. He has been claimed three times for $16,000 this year - by Genaro Vallejo in March, Jack Carava on May 18 (in his latest start before Friday) and by O'Neill.
