Tale of the Union, a Union Rags colt purchased for $925,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midatlantic sale of 2-year-olds in-training in May, won his debut in a fine style in Sunday's fourth race.
Ridden by Drayden Van Dyke, Tale of the Union ($3.80) stalked the pace and took the lead on the turn before pulling clear to win by eight lengths over 5-2 Stubbins. Tale of the Union ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:03.81.
Baffert has 10 wins at the summer meeting - nine maiden special weight races and the Harry Brubaker Stakes with Dabster.
Tale of the Union was the second most-expensive hip at the 2-year-olds in-training sale and races for Michael Lund Petersen.
