Abel Tasman and Marley's Freedom, who won major races at Saratoga last month, had easy half-mile drills on Tuesday morning, their first works since those wins.
Abel Tasman, who won the Personal Ensign, was timed in 48.20 seconds under Drayden Van Dyke.
Marley's Freedom, winner of the Ballerina, was timed in 48.40 seconds.
Abel Tasman, last year's champion 3-year-old filly, is the leader of the older female dirt division this year. Her main goal is the Breeders' Cup Distaff on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs. She was second in that race last year, when it was run at Del Mar.
Marley's Freedom is pointing to the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. She currently leads that division.
Both fillies are trained by Bob Baffert, who said that if they have one more prep before the Breeders' Cup, it would be at Santa Anita, as Baffert is reluctant to ship for a prep and then ship anew for the Breeders' Cup.
If they have another prep, the race for Abel Tasman would be the Grade 1 Zenyatta on Sept. 30, and for Marley's Freedom it would be the Grade 3 L.A. Woman on Oct. 6.
