The multiple Grade 1 stakes winner Elate will miss the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes on Oct. 6 at Belmont Park due to inflammation in and around the splint bone, trainer Bill Mott said Wednesday.
“I’m going to miss the Beldame,” Mott said. “We’ll see what I can do making the Breeders’ Cup. She developed a splint on the inside of her right fore. Just got to see how it responds to treatment.”
Earlier this year, Elate missed time with an injury to the splint bone to her left foreleg. Elate has only run twice this year, winning the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap in July and then got beat a neck by Abel Tasman in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga .
Last year, at age 3, Elate won the Grade 1 Beldame by 8 1-4 lengths.
