Jockey Victor Espinoza, who on Saturday got his first win since his return from serious injuries last summer at Del Mar, is off to Aqueduct this Saturday to ride Dessman in the Wood Memorial and Much Better in the Bay Shore, both for trainer Bob Baffert, Espinoza's agent, Brian Beach, said Monday morning.
Espinoza was aboard Dessman Monday for a six-furlong work that was completed in 1:14.60. He put away his workmate in deep stretch and was about three lengths in front passing the wire.
Dessman most recently was second in an allowance race at Oaklawn Park on the Rebel undercard. He was second in the San Vicente at Santa Anita earlier in the year. He owns one win in three starts.
