Unchain Her Heart, a Shackleford filly purchased for $140,000 at the Barretts select sale of yearlings at Del Mar last summer, won her debut in a maiden special weight race for California-bred fillies in Friday's second race.

Ridden by Aaron Gryder for trainer Brian Koriner, Unchain Her Heart disputed the pace throughout and won by 2 3-4 lengths over 20-1 Nocherylikemychery. Sent off favored, Unchain Her Heart ($5.60) ran 4 1-2 furlongs in a hand-timed 53.80 seconds.

Owned by a partnershipi headed by Blinkers On Racing, Unchain Her Heart is a candidate for the $100,000 CTBA Stakes for state-bred 2-year-old fillies at 5 1-2 furlongs at Del Mar on July 31.  

Unchain Her Heart was the most expensive hip of the 2018 Barretts select yearling sale.
