Los Al: Announcer Ed Burgart to retire in 2018

Ed Burgart, the most recognizable voice in Quarter Horse racing, plans to retire as track announcer at Los Alamitos next June, he said on Friday.

Burgart said his retirement will coincide with his 66th birthday next year. He plans to spend more time at a retirement home he built in 2006 in Prescott Valley, Ariz., 

Burgart has worked at Los Alamitos since 1977 and has been an announcer at Los Alamitos since the early 1980s. He also worked as a track announcer at Hollywood Park for a few autumn Thoroughbred meetings in the 1990s.
