Shamballa finally looked like a reasonable facsimile of his old self at the end of the Mohawk Gold Cup when he paced home in 25 4/5 and got to within two lengths of winner McWicked. Scott Zeron takes the reins from his dad here and we have seen him leave with Shamballa before - most notably in Always B Miki's all-age 1:46 flat World Record at the Red Mile last year.
The compact field shouldn't hurt here and Shamballa may be worth a bet if you can get close to 5/1. Regardless, keep tabs on how he goes here for next week's final. It looks like Shamballa is rounding into form again.
