Desert Steel (6) will be withdrawn from Friday's $75,000 Daisycutter Handicap for fillies and mares because of a recent bout with colic, trainer Simon Callaghan said on Friday morning.
Desert Steel was treated at a local clinic, Callaghan said.
Callaghan said the colic was not a severe case and that Desert Steel is expected to return to his stable later on Friday.
Desert Steel was the 5-2 favorite on the morning-line in the Daisycutter, which is run at five furlongs on turf. Her absence leaves a field of five, including Long Hot Summer (2) who was third in the 2016 Daisycutter.
