The fifth winner for first-crop sire Take Charge Indy in race 1, as Take Charge Dude won a tight photo with favored Im the Best I Know. Im the Best I Know, a second-time starter, made moderate Polytrack fractions of 22.74 and 46.71 while chased by Take Charge Dude, who pulled alongside in midstretch and, his body mainly behind the pace-setter, won a head bob at the finish. Five furlong split was 59.30, the final time 1:06.16 for this 5 1/2-furlong 2-year-old MSW. No one was breaking any watches here, but I liked the race visually better than I did on paper. Take Charge Dude, debuting in in blinkers, has a pretty nice way of going and is bred like a horse who should stretch out. (As an aside, he was the second winner in a row here for trainer Mike Campbell, who captured race 8 Friday with 16/1 Warretta). Also liked the race from third-place finisher P R Radio Star, a Warrior's Reward first-timer who lacked early zip but plugged along nicely on the turn and stretched his stride well through the home-straight. He was a little late to change leads, had little pace at which to run, and was gaining like a horse who could won at seven furlongs or a mile next time.

In race 2, the scratch of rail-drawn speedster Singingintheheat paved the way for yet another Arlington win from Good Bye Greg, who had Rivzinthehouse apply token presure for about three furlongs before being swatted away by the heavy favorite. Good Bye Greg opened up at the quarter pole and it was game over, an unfortunate race flow for well meant Western Elegance, who appeared to hold form but had no chance at the winner while running on for a clear second. Another winner for the Larry Rivelli-Jose Valdivia team, as 6-year-old Good Bye Greg, a rare runner for the sire Teuflesberg, pushed his Arlington record to 6-1-1 from eight starts.

So, two Polytrack races, two front-end winners. I won't read too much into that trend without having more and better evidence.
