Aristocratic, the winner of the San Pedro Stakes at Santa Anita in April, was claimed for $40,000 in a two-way shake by trainer Victor Garcia from trainer Simon Callaghan in Sunday's second race.
Aristocratic finished a quiet fourth in his first start for a claiming price. He dueled for the lead before fading from contention to finish fourth, beaten seven lengths. The race was won by Burn Me Twice ($10).
Aristocratic has won 2 of 8 starts and earned $114,815. Garcia will be his fourth trainer in a brief career.
Aristrocratic, who was purchased for $475,000 at a 2-year-olds in-training sale, was trained by Bob Baffert for his first start, and then by Doug O'Neill until the spring when he was transferred to Callaghan.
O'Neill trained Aristocratic for the San Pedro. With Callaghan, Aristrocratic was third in the Grade 3 Laz Barrera Stakes, and finished eighth in an optional claimer on July 21 prior to Sunday's race.
At the Del Mar Paddock Sale last month, Aristocratic was listed as not sold for $145,000.
