Sadler's Joy (7-1) rallied from last under Julien Leparoux to outfinish Money Multiplier and Bigger Picture to win Saturday's Grade 1, $1 million Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga.
Sadler's Joy, last until the top of the stretch, rallied widest of all in the stretch to get up by a half-length over Money Multiplier, who nosed out Bigger Picture for second. It was three-quarters of a length back to Hunter O'Riley, who was folloed by Erupt, Idaho and Frank Conversation, the latter pair who dueled on the lead through six furlongs in 1:14.19 and a mile in 1:38.52.
The win earned Sadler's Joy a fees-paid berth into the $3 milllion Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar on Nov. 4.
Sadler's Joy is a 4-year-old son of Kitten's Joy owned by Woodland Farm and trained by Tom Albertrani, who won his first race of the Saratoga meet.
Sadler's Joy covered the 1 1-2 miles in 2:24.58 and returned $16.
