Conquest Typhoon, the winner of an optional claimer at a mile on turf, was claimed for $62,500 in a five-way shake by trainer Tim McCanna.
Conquest Typhoon ($8.60) rallied between runners to take the lead in the final furlong and win by three-quarters of a length over 5-2 favorite Oregon.
Saturday's race was Conquest Typhoon's second start for trainer Peter Miller. Owned by Gary Barber, Conquest Typhoon was second in an optional claimer at 1 3-8 miles on turf on Aug. 11 in his first start since being transferred from trainer Mark Casse in Kentucky to Miller.
Conquest Typhoon has won 5 of 26 starts. At 2, he won the Grade 2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine and the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes here. In between, he was fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita.
