Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone will be at Monmouth Park on Monday for an autograph session and a meet-and-greet with fans as an ambassador for the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, which will host two Arabian races on Labor Day.
Krone, who retired from riding in 2004, was the leading rider at Monmouth from 1987 to 1989. She rode her last race at the track in 1999.
"I can’t wait to be back at Monmouth and to see so many familiar faces that meant so much to me," Krone said. "It will be a great homecoming."
Krone became the first female jockey to win a Triple Crown race in 1993 when she guided Colonial Affair to victory in the Belmont Stakes. She also was the first female to ride a Breeders' Cup winner. She won the 2003 BC Juvenile Fillies aboard Halfbridled.
Krone is the only female rider in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. She was inducted in 2000.
The Monday card will include two Arabian races, the HH Sheika Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship and the Grade 1 Shk Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayhan Cup, the third leg (Diamond) of the Triple Jewel Series.
