Both jockeys Flavien Prat and Sasha Risenhoover received suspensions from Del Mar's stewards on Monday for incidents in race 9 on Sunday that resulted in an inquiry but for which the stewards made no change.
Prat got four days for his ride aboard Desert General. Risenhoover got three days for her ride aboard Mercer Island. Both appeared to impede the progress of Trustworthy, who just missed fourth -- the final spot in the superfecta -- yet the stewards ruled the incidents did not affect the original order of finish in a split decision, with two stewards voting for no change, one to make a DQ.
Their suspensions begin on Sept. 10. Prat's lasts through Sept. 16. The dates coincide with live racing dates at Los Alamitos, which begins on Thursday.
Also Monday, stewards fined jockey Jamie Theriot a total of $400 for two violations -- $300 for a second offense for weighing out with the wrong weight, and $100 for failure to appear before the stewards on Monday.
Jockey Mario Gutierrez was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip in a race on Sunday.
And apprentice jockey Jimmy Guzman -- who has not ridden in a race in more than two years -- was fined $300 and placed on probation for the term of his license after testing positive for marijuana and being arrested for being drunk in public.
