Mr Vargas is a 3-year-old gelding to follow. In Friday's third race, Mr Vargas ($4) led throughout a six-furlong maiden race, winning by four lengths over 2-1 Zipman. 

Ridden by Evin Roman, his second victory of the day, Mr Vargas was not urged in the stretch and finished in a quick 1:08.23.

Owned by Samantha Siegel and trained by Brian Koriner, Mr Vargas had made four starts. he was second and third in races at Gulfstream Park in February and March for trainer Juan Arias and joined Koriner's stable over the summer. 

Mr Vargas was second by a heck in a maiden race at five furlongs on turf at Del Mar on Aug. 9.

Mr Vargas won the first leg of a pick six that drew a pool of $60,944 and began with a carryover of $10,765 from Thursday.
