Jockey Edwin Maldonado was taken off his mounts on Saturday's program after being involved in a one-horse spill in the second race.
Maldonado was aboard Discreetly Leah (2-1) who was disputing third when she broke down on the turn of a $20,000 claimer for maidens at 5 1-2 furlongs. Discreetly Leah suffered a severe leg injury in the incident.
Maldonado was taken from the track in an ambulance, but walked out of the ambulance. After being evaluated by the track's first aid department, he was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Replacement riders will be announced in this space as soon as available for jockey changes in the fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth races.
