Under most circumstances, the top five finishers with odds of 22-1, 14-1, 15-1, 8-1 and 2-1 would have produced a single Jackpot Hi 5 winner, or no winner. However, that wasn't the case today as $118K was bet into it in advance of a mandatory payout on Saturday's Woodbine Mile card. There were two consolation winners, returning nearly $23K each, and the carryover is a whopping $1.425 million. The bet won't be offered on Wednesday and Friday.
Silent Sonet avoided trouble with a stalking trip in the $125K La Prevoyante Stakes, and got home on top by six and a quarter lengths, as the 1-2 chalk. The second through sixth-place finishers were separated by just a length and three-quarters, and a troubled Kadley was arguably best but wound up sixth.
Patrick Husbands registered a hat trick. Leading rider Eurico Da Silva's two wins included his first ride on Silent Sonet. Gary Boulanger and Jesse Campbell also doubled up.
