The presence of the massive favorite Zap Again (5) in Friday's fifth race has led the track to cancel show betting in the maiden claimer at 5 1-2 furlongs.

There will be no massive show plunge. Los Alamitos ocasionally cancels show betting because of the presence of a heavy favorite, even if there is five or more betting interests.

Zap Again, trained by Bob Baffert, was second and third in maiden special weight races at Santa Anita in March and July. Bought for $410,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Zap Again will start for a $30,000 claiming price.

There may be a place plunge, of sorts. With 22 minutes to post, Zap Again has attracted $17,916 of the $18,961 bet to place.
