The first of two Grade 1 races on the card is coming up next with the running of the Grade 1, $500,000 E. P. Taylor Stakes over 1 1/4-miles on the turf.
Based on earlier weather conditions, the aptly named Rain Goddess could give trainer Aidan O'Brien his 25th Group or Grade 1 win of the year, which would match Bobby Frankel's record. Rain Goddess is a 3-year-old facing older in this spot, but should handle the soft going. She won on soft going in the Group 3 Snow Fairy Stakes at the Curragh two starts back on Aug. 27. She's currently 6-1 on the board.
Rain Goddess was second behind Nezwaah in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh back in July. Nezwaah may prefer firmer going, and the 5-2 morning line favorite is currently a cold 4-1 on the board.
The other European shipper, Blond Me, is a square 8-1 at the moment. She placed in a Group 1 event at Goodwood two starts back over soft going, and won a Group 2 event over good to soft going three starts back at York. Her previous start can be tossed after she took a bad step and was taken up.
Quidura is the current 2-1 favorite off of her win in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes here on Sept. 16. While she came from off of the pace in the Canadian, she may inherit the lead here in the E. P. Taylor. She set the pace when second behind Lady Eli in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga on July 22.
Chad Brown shipper Fourstar Crook is taking money and is currently 4-1.
