The unbeaten 2yo filly Grace and Dignity stole the show when she romped in the third, a six-furlong N1X/optional claimer, under Eurico da Silva. Her final Trakus time was a rapid 1:08.77, but several hand times came back closer to 1:09, after an opening quarter in :23.20. The Trakus quarter was :22.42.
Trained by Catherine Day Phillips, Grace and Dignity could end up in the $100K Glorious Song Stakes, a seven-furlong sprint here Nov. 19. The mile and a sixteenth Princess Elizabeth Stakes for Canadian-breds on Oct. 29 might be too soon.
Trainer Norm McKnight's victory with Ring of Heat in the opener brought his win total to 69, leaving him just four shy of meet-leader Mark Casse.
Rafael Hernandez book-ended the card, scoring on Ring of Heat and on Cry in the Wild in the nightcap. Da Silva also found the mark twice.
The track played fast, and front-runners won four races, including the first three.
Racing resumes Friday, when the Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $8K.
