Bucchero, who won the Grade 2 Woodford at Keeneland in his most recent start, had his final work for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint when he went an easy half-mile Friday morning at Indiana Grand.
Bucchero was timed in 52.80 seconds. The time was slow but expected, according to Harlan Malter, the principal in Ironhorse Racing, Bucchero's owner.
"That's typical for the way Tim works him," Malter said, referring to trainer Tim Glyshaw. "He's had the same rider for two years. Tim had him a touch faster. He was happy with it."
Bucchero, an Indiana-bred, will ship to Keeneland from Indiana Grand on Oct. 26 and fly to California the following day. Lady Aurelia is the likely favorite for the Turf Sprint, which will be contested at five furlongs this year at Del Mar.
