Tillie's Lily ($4) led throughout Friday's third race, an optional claimer on the hillside turf course, to remain unbeaten after three races.
Ridden by Flavien Prat, Tillie's Lily led by three lengths on the hillside and by 1 1-2 lengths through the stretch to win by the latter margin. She was timed in 1:12.35.
"She showed some speed," Prat said. "I got a comfortable lead. When someone came up, she responded right away."
Swirling, who won her first two starts, finished second, 1 1-4 lengths in front of 15-1 Snow Cloud.
Tillie's Lily was the first starter in California for Florida-based trainer Jonathan Thomas. The 3-year-old filly is owned by Southwind Stables.
