NYRA seeks commission approval to move Sunday pick-six caryover to Aqueduct opening day

The New York Racing Association has submitted a request to the New York State Gaming Commission to move the $70,977 pick-six carryover that was to have had a mandatory payout on Sunday's canceled Belmont Park card to opening day of the Aqueduct meet this Friday.

According to Lee Park, the director of communications for the NYSGC, the commission is expected to discuss NYRA's request Monday.

Sunday was scheduled to have been closing day of the Belmont fall meet and the two-day pick-six carryover would have been distributed to bettors who selected the most winners in the sequence, even if nobody picked all six.

Park confirmed that the rules of racing in New York state that the carryover be held back until opening day of the Belmont 2018 spring meet.

If NYRA's gaming commission request is approved, the Friday pick-six pool will have a mandatory payout, just as it would have had on Belmont's closing day.
