Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens said he plans to winter at the Oaklawn Park meet that opens in January. Stevens said Monday that he will ride the opening day card at Santa Anita then travel to Hot Springs, Ark.
"I'm riding here at Santa Anita opening day," he said. "I've got three major stakes races to ride in, so I plan to ride them and be on my way. I want to be there by Dec. 31st or Jan. 1st, depending on weather."
Stevens said he plans on working horses at Oaklawn no later than Jan. 2. He said his wife and daughter will be making the move with him to Arkansas.
Jay Fedor will represent Stevens at Oaklawn.
