Thursday's eight-race card at Aqueduct was cancelled due to extreme cold conditions that could impact future cards on what was scheduled to be a five-day race week on this circuit.
Thursday's forecast called for a high temperature of 20 degrees but with winds between 15 to 25 miles per hour, the feel-like temperature was going to be in the low single digits.
It was scheduled to reach the mid 20s on Friday and Saturday with less wind, so it is possible those two cards could be run. However, the forecast for Sunday and Monday's New Year's Day program is similar to Thursday with the temperature struggling to reach 20 degrees and wind chills in the low single digits.
The $100,000 East View Stakes for New York-bred fillies was scheduled for Thursday. As of 7:20 a.m. it had not yet been determined when that race would be brought back. Entries at Aqueduct have been taken through Saturday.
