Trainer Mike Puype ended 2017 with a win by Ippodamia's Girl in Sunday's Blue Norther Stakes.

Puype has two runners on Monday's New Year's Day program, and expectations for success. In the second race, Puype starts Boogalute (2) in a maiden race at 1 1-16 miles. In the fourth race, Dreamer's Reality (5) is the stable's hope in a maiden race on the hillside turf course.

Both runners will be a price. Boogalute is 8-1 on the morning-line. The 4-year-old gelding was fourth in a maiden race at 6 1-2 furlongs at Del Mar on Nov. 1 in his only start of the year and finished with interest after a poor start.

Boogalute is part of a field of seven that includes Ziconic (7), a 5-yearold out of Zenyatta who is winless in 10 starts.
