Trained by Bob Baffert for Godolphin Stables, Emboldened was sent off favored after stablemate Hottalabamba was withdrawn when she flipped in the paddock. Hottalabamba was even-money at the time.

Emboldened, by Elusive Quality, ran six furlongs in 1:11.16, finishing 4 1-2 lengths in front of 6-1 We All Have Dreams, a first-time starter by Shackleford trained by Michael McCarthy.
