Mourinho, who was second in the Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes at Del Mar on Nov. 11, has been withdrawn from Saturday's Grade 3 Sham Stakes in favor of a start in the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Jan. 15, trainer Bob Baffert said.

Mourinho was a 4-1 chance in the Sham Stakes at a mile. The Smarty Jones Stakes, the first stakes of the season for 3-year-olds at Oaklawn Park, is run at a mile.

Baffert has the favorite for the $100,000 Sham Stakes in McKinzie, the promoted winner of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos CashCall Futuirity on Dec. 9.
