Seven three-year-olds prepare to run in this year's Mucho Macho Man, and all of the connections involved are dreaming of the possibility of running on the first Saturday in May in Louisville.
DAK ATTACK (3) was visually impressive winning the Ellis Park Juvenile back in August, and he's clearly a very talented runner for Dale Romans. Distance shouldn't be an issue for him, but he'll get a class test off the bench and is an underlay currently at odds of 7/5.
MASK (6) may be the most promising prospect long-term running in today's race. Chad Brown debuted this colt at Belmont on October, scoring an emphatic win after a slow start; he earned an 88 Beyer that day, and a repeat of that race likely wins here.
BAL HARBOUR (4) is one of the more underappreciated three-year-olds at this point; he shows up and runs his race each and every time, and he has an affinity for the Gulfstream Park main track. He's a very fair price at 9/2.
I'm interested in betting on SANTIAMEN (5) for Antonio Sano. His most recent run at six furlongs was a gutsy one, and his pedigree would suggest the additional distance shouldn't be an issue. He'll have to prove he belongs with this caliber of runner, but at 8-1 odds he's worth a play for me.
