First foal a colt for New York stallion War Dancer

New York-based first crop sire War Dancer was represented by his first foal, with the birth of a colt on Jan. 6 at Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, N.Y.

The colt is out of Bruce McConnell and Linda McConnell’s Sadie’s Song, an unplaced runner by Unbridled’s Song. The colt’s second dam, Sharp Eyes, is a half-sister to Gaelic Queen, a group stakes performer in Ireland. His third dam Gaelic Bird is a multiple group winner in France.

Sadie’s Song’s first foal, J C’s Not Brown by Big Brown, is a multiple winner on turf and six-figure earner. The newborn is her fifth New York offspring.

War Dancer, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of War Front, stands at Lere Visagie’s Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y. for a fee of $7,500. According data from The Jockey Club, War Dancer bred 102 mares in 2017.
