Oaklawn Park is collecting memorabilia from the riding career of Larry Snyder after the retired jockey and his wife, Jeanette, lost their home in a Tuesday fire in Arkansas, said Jennifer Hoyt, spokeswoman for the track. The Snyders were out of town and their home is a complete loss.
Hoyt said Jeanette Snyder had kept articles and other memorabilia from her husband's riding career and Oaklawn is now asking the public and racing community to help replace the collection with any memorabilia items they might have concerning Synder.
Those wishing to donate items can do so by contacting Hoyt in the media relations department at Oaklawn. The track will be putting out more details on this project, which is being spearheaded by Hoyt and Nancy Ury Holthus.
Snyder in recent years had served as a steward at Oaklawn. He was a winner of more than 6,000 races on the track and owns multiple riding titles at Oaklawn.
