Race 6: I’ll kick things off by leaning on the speedy Holding Aces (9), who was badly compromised by a poor start last time. However, this is a very competitive race and I would definitely use a few key backups, including the Dubb entry (1), Professor Snape (2), and Scarf It Down (3).
Race 7: Hammerin Aamer (6) is the horse to beat, but I’m hoping that the pace of this race is honest enough to set things up for closer Battle Midway (8). I think this horse just needed a break after a busy 2016-2017 campaign. He’s best going a one-turn mile. Spieth (2) and Admiral Blue (4) are also in with a chance.
Race 8: This is primarily a two-horse race between Westwood (2) and Wonderful Light (7). The latter has more upside, but Westwood ran an exceptional race in his first start against winners last time and will be a better price. Tommy T (3) is also worth throwing in as a backup due to the inside speed favoring track today.
Race 9: Valyrian (5) should be tough to beat if he reverts to a more aggressive running style, as he makes his first start off the claim by Robertino Diodoro. However, my top pick at a price is Primo Pentimento (11). This horse has run well in his dirt sprints, draws well outside, and makes his first start as a new gelding.
