Race 6: Rockford (4) looks like a very likely winner of this race now that his two main pace rivals have scratched out. This runner is always dangerous when left alone up front through moderate fractions and Paco Lopez rode him well when employing those tactics last time. Helooksthepart (3) is Rockford's main rival, but he could be compromised by the projected race flow. On the other hand, he's overcome unfavorable dynamics in the past and remains a serious threat.
Race 7: Sandy Belle (8) has run very well in her recent dirt sprints, but she must prove that she can reproduce that form over a fast track while dealing with early pace pressure. Strawberry Tequila (9) is the logical alternative from just off the pace, but the horse that interests me most at a more attractive price is Cats Halo (10). She’s in the best form of her career and has been facing slightly tougher company at the $25,000 claiming level.
Race 8: Just Got Out (2) is clearly the horse to beat off the strength of her November win over Boule. However, that was the best race she had run in quite some time and her prior form doesn’t make her nearly as formidable. I’m taking a shot against her with Sherini (5), who will absolutely get the distance. She has the tactical speed to keep the favorite honest and I’m hopeful that she can wear her down late.
Race 9: Soxy Ruby (3), Blind Devotion (5), and Marnesia Big Girl (9) are the 3 main players and then there’s a sizable gap to the rest.
