Tim Darnell started the day in first place in the World Championship of Handicapping and he remains there after the completion of round two. His entry now stands at $155.60. He made $37.40 in round two, from four collections, the largest of which was My Candy Forest in Gulfstream’s sixth race.
Now just eight more races separate Darnell from a potential payday of $138,750. The field started the day yesterday with 111 entries playing for a total prize pool of $555,000. At the end of the day, the field was chopped roughly in half to 56 entries. With round two concluded, the field has been trimmed once again to 28 [CK NO TIES] entries. These 28 will go on to play for the $555,000, with the top 20 participating in the prize pool.
Two other players to note carefully in the finals are Ken Seeman and Duke Matties. Seeman, regarded by many as the most successful contest player to never win a major, currently sits in fifth with $131.50 and 23rd with $99.60. He is the only player with two entries left remaining. Matties, a wily tournament veteran with multiple big tournament cashes, currently sits in 11th place after five cashes in round two, including in the last four races.
There are eight races remaining, starting in a few minutes at 4:27 ET.
