Two dirt races into the Risen Star Stakes card and the Fair Grounds main track looks nothing like the supercharged, inside-favoring racing surface we saw here Friday and Tuesday, the two most recent racing days before this card. The race 1 winner, albeit the favorite, tipped four wide after racing several lengths off the speed and won comfortably, and in just-run race 3, inside pace-setting St Louie Guy didn't go especially fast while on a clear lead and still was run down the final half-furlong. Outside paths so far seem perfectly fine, and let's hope that's really the case.
