Uppercut, a first-time starter by Discreet Cat, won her debut in Saturday's third race for 3-year-olds fillies as a 6-1 shot, beating a field that included 1-5 Hottalabamba, who could finish third.

Uppercut ran six furlongs in 1:10.55. Ridden by Mike Smith, Uppercut disputed the pace and finished 5 3-4 lengths in front of 9-1 Two Steps Faster. Hottalabamba finished 7 1-2 lengths behind Uppercut.

Trained by Peter Eurton, Uppercut was purchased for $260,000 at the 2017 Ocala Breeders' Sale of 2-year-olds in-training last April.
