I’m not sure anyone on the planet envisioned Monomoy Girl being a clear last early in the just completed Rachel Alexandra. After all, her best races last year, which were very good races, came when she was on the early lead. But Monomoy Girl could indeed see ‘em all early, yet that, and her ducking out fairly sharply in mid stretch, didn’t stop her from dominating her field at 4-5 in her seasonal bow.
Obviously, Monomoy Girl can win from anywhere on the track. She was already a major player in the 3-year-old filly division, but that makes her even more dangerous.
