Eldritch (6) will start at 1 1-4 miles on turf for the first time in the United States in Saturday's 10th race, an allowance race with a $40,000 claiming option.
The distance may propel Eldritch into the winner's circle, or at least a top three finish as an outsider.
Trained by Mark Glatt, Eldritch was 12th in his American debut at Del Mar last November after a slow start. In his first start at Santa Anita, Eldritch was sixth of seven, but raced in traffic in early stretch.
Eldritch will be ridden by Joe Talamo for the first time on Saturday in a competitive field of 12. He could be a threat from off the pace. In England last year, Eldritch was competitive in marathon races on turf and all-weather surfaces.
