Saturday’s nine-race card at Parx Racing was canceled after a fire broke out overnight in the women's jockey’s room, according to Sam Elliott, the track’s director of racing.
Elliott said in the process of putting out the fire, the first floor of the grandstand _ directly underneath the jockey’s room _ wound up flooded and some tiles fell off the ceiling. Elliott said he is hopeful that everything will be cleaned up in time to race Monday, the next scheduled day of racing at Parx.
Elliott said Parx would be open Saturday for simulcasting on the third floor.
He also said he was taking entries Saturday for Tuesday for what he plans to be an 11-race card.
